MasterCraft has been building top-quality boats since its founding in 1968. The company was known for having boats in national water skiing championship events beginning in 1972, and it was an innovator in producing its own engines and transmissions, as well as building 100% fiberglass hulls with wood-free stringers as far back as 1983. The X-Star, a rear-engine model introduced in 1996, was one of the first wakeboats and quickly came to dominate the sport.
