1972 Boston Whaler 13' Sourpuss $8,000
Boston Whaler was created back in 1958 by Richard Fisher and famed naval architect Ray Hunt came together with the desire to design an "unsinkable boat". The foam core fully surrounded by a fiberglass inner and outer hull proved to be just the ticket, it worked so well that a hull was cut into two pieces with the bow being towed by the stern and a driver running the perfectly functioning outboard in several ads promoting the boat's unsinkable, safe hull design. After 67 years Boston Whaler is synonymous with safety and unsinkability to this day. The designs and styling may have changed in recent years but these boats are still functioning the way Fisher and Hunt had envisioned all those years before.
The Sourpuss 13 was produced from 1971-1975 and was the most highly featured model in the 13' lineup. No exact production numbers seem to be available however it is widely known that the Sourpuss model is relatively uncommon and do not come on the market all that often. A couple features which were considered upgrades from the other 13' models are the full width helm bench with backrest and helm in the center of the boat and the stainless steel wrap-around side and aft rail.
